The National Weather Service in Quad Cities has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Benton County in east central Iowa...

* Until midnight CDT tonight.

* At 600 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Vinton, Belle Plaine, Urbana, Shellsburg, Newhall, Blairstown, Van
  Horne, Keystone, Garrison, Mount Auburn, Luzerne.

This includes Interstate 380 between mile markers 40 and 48.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Mud Creek, Wildcat Creek, Pratt Creek, Little Bear Creek, West
  Fork Cedar River, Bear Creek, Opossum Creek, Goose Run, Wolf
  Creek, Stein Creek, West Branch Blue Creek, Dry Creek, Buckeye
  Creek, Prairie Creek, Coon Creek, Rock Creek, Willow Brook, Iowa
  River and Lime Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
