Afternoon highs are expected to approach and possibly eclipse 90 across parts of central Louisiana and interior southeast Texas Thursday and Friday afternoons. This, combined with dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s, will produce a noticeable heat index for the first time this year. A cold front is expected to push through the area Saturday evening into Sunday morning bringing the next appreciable chance of precipitation. While most areas are likely to see at least some rainfall, totals are expected to be meager ranging between a quarter and three quarters of an inch. Noticeably cooler air will filter into the region behind the front with afternoon highs Sunday and Monday in the mid 70s and overnight lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
