SUMMARY OF 500 PM CHST...0700 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...16.0N 144.8E About 85 miles northwest of Saipan About 90 miles northwest of Tinian About 130 miles north-northwest of Rota About 130 miles south-southwest of Alamagan About 160 miles south-southwest of Pagan About 175 miles north of Guam About 200 miles south-southwest of Agrihan Maximum sustained winds...125 mph Present movement...north-northwest...335 degrees at 3 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM CHST...0700 UTC...the center of Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 16.0 degrees North and Longitude 144.8 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving north-northwest at 3 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the north with a slight increase in forward speed through Thursday. Typhoon Sinlaku is pulling away north-northwestward from Tinian and Saipan and will begin to move through the northern CNMI just west of Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan, through the latter half of the week, making a gradual turn toward the north, and then northeast starting Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain at 125 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to continue weakening through the next few days as it moves through the northern CNMI. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 75 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 265 miles.
