SUMMARY OF 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...16.2N 144.8E About 60 miles west of Anatahan About 95 miles northwest of Saipan About 100 miles north-northwest of Tinian About 120 miles southwest of Alamagan About 145 miles north of Rota About 150 miles south-southwest of Pagan About 185 miles south-southwest of Agrihan About 190 miles north of Guam Maximum sustained winds...125 mph Present movement...northwest...325 degrees at 6 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...the center of Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 16.2 degrees North and Longitude 144.8 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving northwest at 6 mph. It is expected to make a turn toward the north with little change in forward speed through Thursday. Typhoon Sinlaku continues to pull away northwestward from Tinian and Saipan and will begin to move through the northern CNMI just west of Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan, through the latter half of the week, making a gradual turn toward the north, and then northeast starting Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain at 125 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to maintain this intensity through tonight before weakening once again on Thursday. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 75 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 275 miles.
