A bubble of high pressure will remain anchored over the northeast
Gulf through Saturday evening, supporting variable winds with
dominant nearshore afternoon seabreezes. Then a cold front will
quickly sweep across the waters during the day on Sunday, followed
at first by strong northerly winds. Strong breezes will clock
around easterly by Tuesday, as high pressure passes by to the
north.

A mid to upper-level trough will maintain an unstable weather
pattern across the regional waters, resulting in periods of strong
thunderstorms through at least Saturday. Thunderstorms will
produce locally higher winds, frequent lightning, and reduced
visibility. A surface high over the Atlantic will promote mainly
moderate easterly winds, occasionally fresh at times, resulting in
moderate to locally choppy seas over the weekend. A small
northeasterly swell will also continue to propagate across the

including Galveston and Matagorda Bays.

Onshore flow around 15 to 20 knots with occasional gusts to 25kt
will persist through early Saturday with 2-4ft seas. Persistent
onshore flow has led to increased wave runup along beaches and
water levels are expected to be near 3.0 feet above Mean Lower Low
Water during high tide cycles over the next few days. A cold
front with associated showers and storms are expected to push
offshore Saturday evening into early Sunday. Small Craft
Advisories will be needed Saturday night into Sunday due to the
strong northeasterly winds and building seas developing behind
the cold front. Chances are increasing in seeing gusts to Gale-
force over the coastal waters late Saturday night into Sunday
afternoon.
