Shortly before 820 PM CDT on Monday April 13th, 2026, a supercell thunderstorm, that had previously resulted in an EF- 2 tornado in Ottawa, KS, strengthened and developed a second tornado just east of Hillsdale Lake in northern Miami County, Kansas. Initial damage was confined to the campground and park headquarters. The tornado strengthened to an EF-1 as it followed W 255th St and crossed Harmony Rd. The tornado continued east toward the town of Hillsdale, KS. After crossing Hospital Rd, the tornado strengthened to EF-2 with a peak wind estimated to be 115 mph as it impacted a single family home, before doing significant damage to several storage facilities just west of Old KC Rd.
