Wind gusts reached up to around 45 mph at times today. The warm and dry weather supported elevated grassfire danger west of Interstate 135. As of early evening, a few isolated thunderstorms were impacting east-central Kansas along a sharpening dryline. Golfball sized hail was reported in and around Cottonwood Falls. A few isolated thunderstorms will remain possible into the evening over eastern Kansas. Large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado could accompany the strongest activity. Otherwise breezy south winds will persist tonight. Forecast low temperatures range from chilly 40s over northwest Kansas, to mild 60s over eastern Kansas. Stout and gusty southwest winds and well above average temperatures will persist Tuesday across the region, supporting more elevated grassfire danger west of I-135. Additionally, scattered thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and evening over portions of central and eastern Kansas, with severe weather once again possible. Forecast high temperatures range from the 70s over northwest Kansas, to 80s elsewhere across the state. $$
