SUMMARY OF 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...13.9N 146.8E About 145 miles east-southeast of Rota About 155 miles southeast of Tinian About 160 miles east of Guam About 160 miles southeast of Saipan About 310 miles south-southeast of Alamagan About 345 miles south-southeast of Pagan About 390 miles south-southeast of Agrihan Maximum sustained winds...175 mph Present movement...northwest...320 degrees at 8 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku was located by PGUA radar near Latitude 13.9 degrees North and Longitude 146.8 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving northwest at 8 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course and speed through Wednesday, before making a turn to the north, passing through the northern CNMI through the latter half of the week. Tropical storm force winds will continue to spread and increase across Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. Typhoon force winds are expected to start reaching Tinian and Saipan this afternoon. Latest JTWC forecast track has shifted further north, still indicating passage near or over Tinian and Saipan. Maximum sustained winds remain at 175 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to gradually weaken through the next several days, but it is still expected to cross the Marianas near or over Tinian and Saipan as a Category 4 storm. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 80 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 290 miles to the east and up to 215 miles to the west.
