SUMMARY OF 1100 AM CHST...0100 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...14.3N 146.4E About 70 miles southeast of Tinian About 70 miles southeast of Saipan About 80 miles east of Rota About 120 miles east-northeast of Guam About 230 miles south of Alamagan About 270 miles south of Pagan About 310 miles south of Agrihan Maximum sustained winds...165 mph Present movement...northwest...315 degrees at 10 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM CHST...0100 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku was located by PGUA radar near Latitude 14.3 degrees North and Longitude 146.4 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving northwest at 10 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the north- northwest with little change in forward speed through Wednesday, before making a turn to the north, passing through the northern CNMI through the latter half of the week. Tropical storm force winds will continue to spread and increase across Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. Typhoon force winds are expected to start reaching Tinian and Saipan this afternoon. Latest JTWC forecast track still indicate passage near or over Tinian and Saipan. Maximum sustained winds remain at 165 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to gradually weaken through the next several days, but it is still expected to cross the Marianas near or over Tinian and Saipan as a Category 4 storm. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 80 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 265 miles.
