SUMMARY OF 500 PM CHST...0700 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...14.6N 146.0E About 35 miles southeast of Tinian About 40 miles south-southeast of Saipan About 60 miles east-northeast of Rota About 110 miles northeast of Guam About 210 miles south of Alamagan About 245 miles south of Pagan About 285 miles south of Agrihan Maximum sustained winds...155 mph Present movement...west-northwest..300 degrees at 6 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 PM CHST, 0700 UTC, the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 14.6 degrees North and Longitude 146.0 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving west-northwest at 4 mph. It is expected to make a turn toward the north-northwest with an increase in forward speed tonight, then make a slight turn to the north Wednesday and Wednesday night as it begins to pass through the northern CNMI just west of the islands of Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan, through the latter half of the week. Maximum sustained winds remain at 155 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to gradually weaken through the next several days after crossing the Marianas near or over Tinian and Saipan tonight as a Category 4 storm. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 75 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 265 miles.
