SUMMARY OF 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...17.0N 144.5E About 90 miles west-northwest of Anatahan About 95 miles west-southwest of Alamagan About 115 miles southwest of Pagan About 145 miles south-southwest of Agrihan About 155 miles north-northwest of Saipan About 160 miles north-northwest of Tinian About 200 miles north-northwest of Rota About 245 miles north of Guam Maximum sustained winds...130 mph Present movement...north...350 degrees at 6 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 17.0 degrees North and Longitude 144.5 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving north at 6 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the north-northeast with little change in forward speed through Friday. Typhoon Sinlaku continues to pull away from Tinian and Saipan and has begun to move through the northern CNMI just west of Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan, which will continue through Friday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 130 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to begin to weaken later this morning and continue to slowly weaken for the next few days as it moves through the northern CNMI. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 105 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 290 miles to the northeast and up to 255 miles elsewhere.
