A National Weather Service Storm Survey Team determined that the damage observed during the evening of April 2nd was the result of a downburst and straight line winds. Sporadic tree damage begins just north Highway 158 and east of Green Bay road. The damage gradually expands in area to the north and east, with the greatest concentration of wind damage from the area around 45th Street and 38th Avenue to the east and northeast, crossing Washington Road to the north and 22nd Avenue to the east. Wind damage becomes more sporadic approaching 18th street to the north and Sheridan Road to the east. Dozens of trees were uprooted, with widespread large limb damage. Partial loss of roof shingles and fascia were observed on numerous homes. Partial loss of siding was observed on some homes. A few sheds were destroyed. Several power lines were downed. The damage is consistent with widespread 60 to 70 mph winds over a large area, maxing out at 90 mph where the highest concentration of damage was observed.
