...NWS Damage Survey for 3/16/2026 Tornado Event Correction...

.Overview...NWS Mobile conducted a thorough review of available
high resolution satellite imagery and radar data. A line of
thunderstorms during the overnight hours of 3/16/26 produced
significant swaths of damaging winds just north of the Highway 84
corridor and an EF1 tornado closer to West King, MS. Details on all
of this can be found below.

Survey Summary:
A swath of straight-line winds was evident via high resolution
Planet satellite imagery that occurred with a line of severe
thunderstorms east of Pleasant Grove and north of Highway 84 near
Van Hoover West Road. An approximately 670-yard-wide swath of
tree damage was evident west of Van Hoover West Road generally in
the 60 to 70mph range. The swath of winds narrowed but became
more intense east of the road with peak wind estimates around
80 to 90mph.

Survey Summary:
High resolution satellite imagery revealed an EF1 tornado began
along Waynesboro Shubuta Road tracking east-southeast for roughly
2 miles. The tornado primarily damaged forest reaching a peak
width of 200 yards just east of Waynesboro Shubuta Road. A couple
older outbuildings appeared to have been damaged to destroyed via
high resolution satellite imagery. The tornado lifted shortly
after crossing Yellow Creek Church Drive.
